Power of a Dream Music Festival to Hit Fresno August 30, 2014

Grizzly Youth Academy & Save Mart Center
Ventura County celebrities Sade Champagne and Lisa Lewolt are partnering up with the Grizzly Booster Club to launch, the first ever “Power Of A Dream Music Festival at the Fresno Save Mart Center in Fresno CA., Saturday August 30, 2014 from 6pm-10pm, a charity event to raise funds for the expansion project, a field for the kids and scholarships as well as awareness for California National Guards Grizzly Youth Academy Challenge Program.

The mission of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program is to intervene in and reclaim the lives of at-risk youth to produce program graduates with the values, skills, education and self-discipline necessary to succeed as adults. This entire program is provided at no cost for the family. Lisa and Sade got the opportunity to experience firsthand at what this program does for at-risk teens ages 16-19 throughout California. They had the pleasure of volunteering for Mentor Day and helping to lead their chapel service where they encouraged and empowered the teenagers in the program.

The festival will feature popular Celebrity guest appearances and performances, community and special guest performers, inspirational speakers, vendors, large raffle prizes and so much more. This festival is also unlike any other because 3 people will win the chance to perform live at the festival through the Power of a Dream Vocal Talent Contest.

This entire charity event was originally dreamed up by Donna Hummer, one of the GYA Booster Club volunteers. Her teenage son Cody has greatly benefited from the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program in San Luis Obispo. She reached out to Sade Champagne about helping her to create a large charity event so that more kids could receive the help that her son did. Power Of A Dream Music Festival will also feature testimonials from kids in the program, performances from Grizzly’s Audio Ignite music program and local Fresno celebrity entertainers like Travis Miller and 2Tallin’.

Sade Champagne and Lisa Lewolt are professional musical artists, performers, and inspirational speakers residing in Ventura County, CA. Through Sade Champagne Presents they have created, directed and executive produced over 30 unique popular charity events, raising thousands of dollars and awareness for charities all over the world. This summer they are launching their Power of a Dream Tour and traveling all over Southern and Central California with a team of musical artists, performers and inspirational speakers. It’s fitting that the summer leg of the tour would end in Fresno at the Save Mart Center arena raising funds and awareness for the California National Guards Grizzly Youth Academy. The Power of a Dream Music Festival is the culmination of everything the tour represents!

Admission into the festival is $10. Advance Tickets will be available for purchase this month, and tickets will also be available at the door. This is sure to be an electric and motivating event that will inspire and be fun for the entire family!

Farmers Insurance Announces $100,000 Grants for Teachers with the “Dream Big Challenge”

Earlier this year, we reported that comedian and actor Jack Black became the first participant in the Farmers Insurance “Thank a Million Teachers” campaign by personally thanking his former teacher Debbie Devine (scroll down for video).

“Thank a Million Teachers” encourages people of all ages to thank the teachers who made a difference in their lives on the website, and provides up to $2,500 in grant money to select educators who submit proposals via the site. Over half a million teacher thank yous have already been logged, putting the program ahead of schedule for reaching its goal of one million teachers thanked in 2014.

The campaign continues, and on March 6th was expanded with the announcement of the “Dream Big Challenge,” a national competition which will award five teachers grants of up to $100,000 each for use in transforming their schools and communities. According to the press release for the event, which took place at the Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, “teachers will be invited to submit comprehensive proposals describing their visionary program, implementation plans and timelines, expected outcomes and a detailed budget.  Complete rules and guidelines, as well as downloadable forms are available at”

In addition to announcing the competition, the event also recognized five local high school students, known as the “M.I.T. 5,” who will be attending the elite Massachusetts Institute of Technology together this fall. The students — Andrew Koh, Raymundo Cano, Gi Min Choi, Kevin Escobar Rodriguez, and William Lopez-Cordero — publicly thanked their teachers and were then presented with a check for $1,000 each from Farmers, while Polytechnic High School itself was given a check for $5,000.IMG_7381
