We all want to be tough, and no one wants to act like a big baby when it comes to every single ache and pain. Often, our pains go away quickly and don’t really mean anything. However, there are some pains that are trying extra hard to get your attention and let you know that something is seriously wrong. These are the pains you shouldn’t ignore for long.
Abdominal Pain
Everyone gets a stomach ache now and then. You eat too much, or you down a bunch of junk food, your stomach rebels. That is normal. What isn’t normal is persistent, chronic, and severe abdominal pain. This kind of pain can be a symptom of something serious, such as ulcers, Crohn’s disease, Celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gallstones, kidney stones, endometriosis, and even appendicitis. If you have severe, persistent abdominal pain, it is best to get yourself checked out by a doctor. There are things that they can do to relieve your pain, and if your pain is a symptom of a serious issue, you want it diagnosed right away.
Tooth Pain
It simply isn’t normal to have tooth pain. Generally, you should be able to go about your daily life without even really noticing your teeth. If you notice them, then something is probably wrong. The most common causes of a toothache are cavities, a broken tooth, an abscessed tooth, a damaged filling, or infected gums. Your pain might be constant and sharp, throbbing and dull, or it might only occur when you touch the sensitive part. Regardless of how your tooth pain feels, you should visit a dentist. With dental issues, the sooner you are seen the less invasive the treatment will need to be. Plus, dental pain can be excruciating, and really interfere with normal life. Don’t suffer needlessly! Schedule an appointment with your dentist right away. In fact, tooth pain might be severe enough to warrant an emergency trip to the dentist.
Throat Pain
A sore throat is usually the first tell-tale sign of a cold or other common virus. However, a severe sore throat could be a bacterial infection commonly called strep throat. Unlike viral infections, strep must be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, strep throat can cause complications, such as rheumatic fever, which can damage your heart. The most common sign of strep throat is extreme pain with swallowing, even with liquids.
With so many medical options available in this modern world, it is totally pointless to suffer in silence. If you have severe or chronic pain anywhere on your body, play it safe and get it checked out!
