Anime Adaptation of ‘Petals of Reincarnation’ Confirmed for April 2026: Historical Geniuses Go to War

By Willie Pena • January 17, 2026

The wait is over. The “Petals of Reincarnation” anime finally drops in April 2026. Here is your first look at the insane battles, the killer cast, and the new trailer featuring Newton, Einstein, and the Forest of the Greats.

History is About to Get Rewritten (In Blood)

Forget everything you learned in history class. What if the greatest minds mankind has ever known—Einstein, Newton, Nightingale—weren’t just scholars? What if they were warriors battling for the soul of humanity?

It was officially announced today that the long-awaited TV anime adaptation of “Petals of Reincarnation” (based on the manga by Mikihisa Konishi) will begin broadcasting in April 2026.

If you haven’t been following this series, buckle up. The premise is one of the most hardcore concepts we’ve seen in years.

The Hook: Talent at a Deadly Cost

In this world, talent isn’t learned—it’s awakened. There exists an object known as the “Branch of Reincarnation.” It can grant you the abilities of your past lives, but the price of admission is steep:

You have to slit your own throat with it.

The story follows Toya Senji, a student drowning in inferiority who is desperate for talent. He crosses paths with Haito Luo Buffett, a “Returner” battling a serial killer, and gets pulled into a war between those who use their past talents for good (The Forest of the Greats) and those who use them for slaughter.

The second PV just dropped, featuring the opening theme “Glitch*” by eill, and it looks absolutely stunning. The animation by BENTEN Film captures the stylish, violent aesthetic of the manga perfectly.

Meet the “Forest of the Greats”

The casting for this show is stacked. Today’s update revealed five major new cast members who bring these legendary historical figures to life:

  • A. Einstein (Voiced by Haruka Shiraishi): One of the “Big Two” of the organization. She can teleport using her “Spatial Transposition” talent. Just don’t touch her—she hates men.
  • I. Newton (Voiced by Kaito Ishikawa): The other heavyweight. He controls gravity with his “Fruit of Gravity” (yes, it’s an apple).
  • F. Nightingale (Voiced by Reina Ueda): The “Angel of Healing.” She can cure any wound, but her bedside manner is… let’s just say “intense.”
  • Jubei Mitsuyoshi Yagyu (Voiced by Marina Inoue): A master swordswoman seeking the ultimate blade.
  • Hiroshi Funasaka (Voiced by Shugo Nakamura): The “Undead Soldier.” He literally cannot die.
