Breaker Novogratz is a 13-year-old who is no stranger to show business, being featured along with the rest of his family on such shows as Home by Novagratz and 9 by Design. Son of designers Cortney and Robert, he is starting to make his own moves after his family’s recent relocation to Los Angeles, signing with the Men’s Division of Click Model Management and working on his acting and music chops.
He recently recorded an incredibly catchy and upbeat track called “Family” as part of an Old Navy campaign for their Novogratz line. Check out the video, and then keep scrolling for our exclusive interview with Breaker!
Hi Breaker, nice to meet you. First off, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I love to sing, dance and play musical instruments. My brothers and I are always making awesome movies on our iPads. I am also obsessed with skateboarding.
You are from New York originally, now in Los Angeles. What has been the biggest bit of culture shock you have experienced since moving out here?
We lived in the West Village in New York City so we were able to walk everywhere which I loved. The car is sometimes a pain in LA, but we are lucky to live in West Hollywood where we can get to fun things easily. Both places are very different and I really love both!
You recorded a song and video called “Family.” Tell us about it.
The song is about Family and how we all count on each other and love each other.
You get thrown into the pool at the end. Was this one take or did you have to do this over and over?
Getting thrown in the pool happened at the end of the day. It was super fun and a great way to wrap the video.
And speaking of family…you have six siblings, correct? What is the best part about being a part of such a big clan?
Yes, I have six crazy siblings – I love it! We all get along and hang out all the time! We are all very different and learn from each other and always support each other. It’s not all perfect but I love my fam!
And the most difficult?
Big families tend to be noisy and my little twin brothers sometimes drive me crazy and are always breaking my things. They are pretty funny though, and I can always get them to be in my movies!
Do you have further showbiz aspirations? If so, what?
Yes, I intend to live my life in show business. I love doing almost anything creative. My short term goal is to become better at all I do and really work at it every day.
If you could have just one superpower in real life, what would it be and why?
I love super powers, if I could have just one superpower in real life it would be to be invisible. It would be really cool to observe people when they didn’t know I was there.
What do you have coming up next?
I am working really hard on my training and about to audition for a few different roles in films. I am also working on a few new songs as well. I just signed with Click Models and will probably do a little of that too. I’m saving for a vintage corvette when I am old enough to drive.
Anything else we should know?
I try to be a nice kid. Lots of kids take themselves way too seriously and are not kind to their peers.
