You all know the Build-a-Bear Workshop brand: they are the stores found in malls across America and the rest of the world where you get to assemble your very own customizable teddy bear. Well, this company is giving back to the community with two initiatives that will reward charity-minded youth who are making the world a better place, as well as our military heroes and their families:
- Huggable Heroes: The annual Build-A-Bear Workshop program recognizes and rewards children ages eight through 18 for extraordinary acts of service. Ten winners will each receive a $5,000 scholarship and a $2,500 donation to the winner’s choice of a designated charity. Guests can join this effort by nominating young social entrepreneurs in stores or at buildabear.com
- USO Partnership: Build-A-Bear Workshop is supporting the USO “Every Moment Counts” campaign, which creates moments that matter for our troops and their families. This is being launched at a special event in Los Angeles, where guests can share a message of thanks on their social media platforms with “#babwUSOthanks.” For each share, Build-A-Bear Workshop will donate one dollar to the USO, up to $50,000. Guests can also make a monetary donation to support the USO when they checkout through June 30. In addition, Guest will be invited to join in the USO’s attempt to set a Guinness World Record for “most signatures on a flag” by signing the flag in-person
The event takes place Thursday, May 14 at the Build-A-Bear Workshop, Westside Pavilion, 10800 West Pico Blvd., Space #248, Los Angeles, CA 90064. It runs from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. If you want to stay up-to-date with Build-A-Bear Workshop’s initiatives and current promotions, visit the following:

About the USO The USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families millions of times each year at hundreds of places worldwide. We provide a touch of home through centers at airports and military bases in the U.S. and abroad, top quality entertainment and innovative programs and services. We also provide critical support to those who need us most, including forward-deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors, troops in transition and families of the fallen. The USO is a private, non-profit organization, not a government agency. Our programs and services are made possible by the American people, support of our corporate partners and the dedication of our volunteers and staff.
