Gaming and Your Health: Five Things You Should Know

Are you an avid gamer? Do you spend countless hours hunkered down in a chair with a controller in hand? Maybe you’re up at all hours of the night?

If you are – or you’re a parent of a teenager who is – a gamer, you might find yourself facing some dips in health. This might be excessive tiredness, eye strain, bad posture, and even obesity.

The good news is that many of these issues can be solved by following the tips below.

1. Exercise

As a gamer, you’re not exactly getting a lot of exercise, so get it in any way you can. Do you play in short bursts or long stretches? If it’s the latter, try taking time off between playing sessions. You can stretch, walk around, or even do some push-ups.

If your gaming sessions are shorter, maybe an hour at the most per day, then you have plenty of time to get exercising. Join a sports club or a gym to get moving, and you will feel the benefits of it in no time at all.

3. Standing Desk

If you really want to get the most out of your time at the computer, you can invest in a standing desk. Now, you might be thinking “is a standing desk good for gaming?” It definitely can be!

Instead of sitting, you stand while playing your games. This keeps your joints in a better position, which reduces the strain on your muscles, and will prevent your posture from weakening. It also keeps your blood flowing and your energy up.

If you like to play games for long periods, a standing desk could be a good investment. It’s a good idea to try sitting and standing and see which position is more comfortable. You might prefer to switch between the two throughout the day, and adjustable standing desks allow for this.

4. Gaming Glasses

Remote controls are also a lot easier to use, which keeps your hands from getting tired.
