Having a good morning routine can feel a little bit hopeless as a teenager. Plan all you like, but when your alarm goes off, you’ll probably still hit snooze. However, no matter when you wake up, these are the morning tasks you don’t want to skip.
Dental Hygiene
Dental hygiene is a hugely important part of your morning routine. Keeping your teeth healthy is critical to your overall health, and allows you to keep eating your favorite foods for a long time. Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly can prevent cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. Not only that, you’re a lot more pleasant to be around when you take care of your dental hygiene. Nobody wants to smell your morning breath. Take care of yourself, and keep your friendships strong, by making dental hygiene a priority in your morning routine. It only takes two minutes, and is well worth the time spent.
Skincare
Acne is an incredibly common struggle for teenagers. It can be a big blow to your confidence to feel like you don’t have control over the appearance of your skin. Adding skincare to your morning routine gives you that control back. Taking care of your skin helps decrease acne and makes your skin look more glowy and clean. You should be moisturizing your skin even if you have acne or oily skin. You don’t need to go out and buy every skincare product on the market for this to work. Many drugstore skincare products work great, and dermatologists everywhere have taken to social media to tell people their favorites. Do a little bit of research. Find out what type of skin you have and what products you can afford. Then don’t skip the skincare!
Self Care
You can’t control a lot of what happens to you when you’re a teenager. The rest of your day may be dictated by school, work, and a social life. Take time in the morning to do something that brings you joy. Whether that’s making a really good cup of coffee, or reading a chapter of a book, just pick something small that starts your day right. If you start the day out on a high note, you’ll be able to go into the rest of the day with a positive outlook. With all the things around you causing you stress, this morning self-care might become your saving grace.
Mornings can feel rushed, especially when you have to get to school. Create a morning routine that helps alleviate some of that stress. Include these, and other tasks, in your morning routine to help you be better prepared for the day.
