5 Fast Facts about actress and singer Montana Jacobowitz

Montana L. Jacobowitz is an eighteen-year-old performer born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Montana takes pride in her efforts to bring attention to homelessness, education issues, bullying, abuse, climate change, and many other trending social issues.

She wrote a play at the age of seven years old about her brother Arizona who is autistic; it became a school sensation and can be seen on YouTube, under “My Brother Arizona.” She has also written three original songs called, Let Me In, Ask Me Why I Cry, and Reckless, which can be heard on all music platforms as well as lyric and music videos on VEVO now.

What are you doing during this time of crisis, while in quarantine?

First off I want to say that I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. During this time, I have dedicated most of my time critiquing my craft. I have been writing songs constantly, learning new songs on my saxophone, guitar, piano, and ukulele, and working on editing my 3rd music video for my song ‘Reckless.’ I am currently holding a contest on my social media until May3rd for talent and tiktokers. All a person has to do is make a creative TikTok to my song ‘Reckless’ and put the #IAmRecklessChallenge and tag me (@IAmMontanaJ), all other details and prizes can be found on my Instagram. I also have a weekly Instagram livestream every Tuesday and Thursday (12:00PM PST/ 3:00PM EST), which will sometimes feature a special guest or sometimes will be me jamming out live and answering questions.

What’s been your favorite experience as a performer so far?

My favorite experience as a performer, so far, was going on my first East Coast tour when I was 15 years old. I met many great performers and traveled to venues, such as, Wells Fargo in Philadelphia, PA, The Bitter End/ Wicked Willies, NY, and the New Jersey Boardwalk. It was my first professional show which helped launch me as a performer into the industry.

Many kids would love to be in your shoes — but what’s ONE thing you aren’t too fond of about show biz so far?

This industry is so big and it can sometimes be very difficult to get your first break, whether it’s on a TV Show, in a movie, or on Broadway, etc. I would definitely say others in the business judge you very harshly and at times criticize unnecessarily, especially about your height, look, or weight. This tends to lead to many people trying to change themselves based on what others believe they should look like.

Most embarrassing moment IRL?

This is so disgusting and I tell people this story all the time. I am still surprised I did this when I was younger. I was in love with freezing cold water and my parents and I didn’t really know why. But everytime my parents left me for a second, in the bathroom, I would end up drinking water out of the toilet…I know YUCK and completely GROSS. I always stuck my head in the toilet and drank out of it. Now I’m embarrassed from sharing lol : ) [Editor – “He who has not sinned cast the first stone,” right? Everybody’s got something embarassing in their past–good for you for acknowledging it!]

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you?

I first performed on a real stage in front of 500 people at the age of 6 years old. I also was a part of my first real TV series as a Co-Host on Teenage Critic that premiered on PBS at the age of 13 years old.
