JAC Carrera (Jose Antonio Carrera @JACtheactor ) is an actor from Brooklyn who was just nominated for Best Performance in a Short Film – Teen Actor at the 40th Annual Young Artist Awards. This follow his win at the Young Entertainer Awards in April.
Here’s 5 Fast Facts about him!
He feels the nomination represents the start of something great.
The nomination represents the begining of my career, a recognization of my hard work and dedication. The nomination alone represents me as a winner. Being part of this years 40th annual celebration means a lot and I am so happy to be able to be part of it.
He has met Stephen Arnell from Arrow.
The biggest celebrity that I met and changed my life was Stephen Amell from the TV show Arrow. He was filming the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle near my elementary school and I stood around watching him practice around his rollerblade. He told us to wait for him outside that when he was done with his scene he would come out to take pictures with us, he even signed my graduation autograph book. He is so down to earth and seeing him in action made me want to take my career further.
He proscrastinates — but loves charity work.
One bad habit I would love to break is procrastinating when it comes to homework, one good habit I wish others would do is take their time to help those in need. I love to give out food to the homeless during thanksgiving and love to do charity events like toy drives on Christmas to give gifts to those kids that don’t have Christmas.
He grew up in a single parent home — and that drives him to help others.
My ultimate goal in show biz is to be able to be an A list actor and be able to create a facility with different programs the entertainment industry for kids that their parents struggle and can’t afford to pay for them. I grew up in a single parent home, watching my mom do so much to make sure she gets the money to provide the workshops, classes, headshots, the traveling expense to auditions or set just to help me with my career made me see how hard it is to get your foot in the business when you are not financially stable. With this program I would help those kids that have the same dreams and hope like me and open up the path to showcase their talents.
He has no fears.
I have no fears as of now, I live in a space where I try my best and accept the outcomes. Sometimes people question if I fear to fail in this business and my answer is no because my mom always taught me that when things are meant for you it will happen at the right time.
